Sleep facilities and home sleep apnea testing (HSAT) programs that are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine now have more time to implement the scoring rules in Version 2.2 of the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events. The date by which all AASM accredited sleep facilities and HSAT programs are required to implement the rules in Version 2.2 has been extended to Jan. 15, 2016.
Two new sections were included in Version 2.2, which was released in July:
• Sleep staging rules for infants
• HSAT rules for adults
Following the announcement of the original Oct. 1 implementation date, input received from AASM members and accredited sleep facilities indicated that additional time was needed to allow for adoption of the new infant and HSAT scoring rules. The AASM appreciates this valuable feedback.
Updated annually, the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events is an online resource offering you multi-platform digital access from your desktop, tablet and mobile device. Subscribers can access the manual via the AASM website or by using the AASM Resource Library app, which is a free download through the App Store or Google play. An annual subscription ensures that you always have immediate access to the current version of the manual, and it enables you to remain compliant with AASM accreditation standards.
