The American Academy of Sleep Medicine reminds all sleep medicine professionals covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that you must be compliant with the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) starting on Oct. 1, 2015, including those who do not provide Medicare or Medicaid services. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has a variety of tools available to help you at www.cms.gov/ICD10, including a provider resources webpage and Road to 10, an online resource built with input from providers in small practices.
The AASM also offers a number of resources to help you implement ICD-10, including:
- Coding & ICD-10 FAQs
- Sleep medicine code crosswalk
- Comorbid code crosswalk
- AASM Coding Education Program (ACEP) module about ICD-10
Make sure that you and your staff are equipped today and ready to implement ICD-10.
