A randomized, crossover study in the August issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine examined the feasibility of home sleep apnea testing in an urban, African-American population at risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Results show that there was good agreement between home sleep apnea testing and in-lab polysomnography, and 82 percent of participants preferred home testing. According to the authors, the cost-effectiveness of home sleep apnea testing for OSA should be examined in underserved urban and rural populations.
