The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), the certification board that administers the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) exam, will offer the certificate-level CPSGT exam for the first time during a March 15-27 testing window. The new entry-level certificate is for those entering the sleep technology profession, and a certificate holder will be a "Certified Polysomnographic Technician." The CPSGT exam is not a prerequisite to sitting for the RPSGT exam.

Due to the four-day closure of the BRPT Executive Office caused by recent severe winter weather in the greater Washington, DC area, the application deadline for the March 2010 testing window for both the RPSGT exam and the CPSGT exam has been extended one week to Tuesday, Feb. 23.   Applications and all supporting materials must be received in the BRPT executive office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

RPSGT applications for the March testing window are now subject to a $35 late application fee.  The late fee is applied to all applications submitted after the Feb. 2 initial application deadline.

There is no late fee for CPSGT applications in the inaugural CPSGT testing window.   CPSGT applicants for the first administration of the CPSGT exam remain eligible for a discounted $150 application fee.  The regular fee for the CPSGT exam is $240.

The unanticipated closure of the BRPT executive office has created a substantial backlog in application processing for both the RPSGT and the CPSGT exams.  Please be assured that every effort is being made to work through that backlog and process candidate approvals as quickly as possible.

You can help expedite application processing by addressing all inquiries to info@brpt.org rather than calling the executive office.  Inquiries to info@brpt.org will be addressed within 24 hours.
