The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released the 2024 National Impact Assessment of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Quality Measures Report. The CMS impact assessments are released every three years, with this being the fifth report in the series beginning with the 2012 publication.

In this report, CMS analyzed quality measure results from 2016 to 2021 across 26 quality and value-based incentive payment programs using the following factors:

  1. COVID-19 PHE Effect on Quality Measures
  2. National Findings on Health Equity
  3. Health Care Quality Priorities, which include:
    1. Person-Centered Care
    2. Equity
    3. Safety
    4. Affordability and Efficiency
    5. Chronic Conditions
    6. Wellness and Prevention
    7. Seamless Care Coordination
    8. Behavioral Health
  4. Lessons Learned Across CMS Health Care Quality Priorities for a Resilient Health Care System
