Sleep facilities and home sleep apnea testing (HSAT) programs that are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine must implement the scoring rules in Version 2.2 of the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events by Jan. 15, 2016.

Two new sections were included in Version 2.2, which was released in July 2015:
• Sleep staging rules for infants
• HSAT rules for adults
