This week, the TODAY Show, interviewed AASM member Priyanka Yadav, DO, for her insight into why getting enough sleep is so important. Yadav says that the average person is sleeping about 4-6 hours a day and that’s 2 hours less than we should be getting. In addition to major health issues such as heart problems, mood problems and weight gain, sleep deprived people are also three times more likely to get everyday infections like cnews and flu. No matter what our age, sleep deprivation affects us all.
