Over the past year, the AASM Accreditation Committee has been evaluating the Standards for Accreditation after being commissioned by the AASM Board of Directors to simplify requirements that have a limited bearing on the quality of a sleep facility.
These revised standards, along with the Standards At-a-Glance resource summarizing the changes for Facility and Independent Sleep Practice Accreditation, will be released July 1, 2019. Accredited Sleep Facilities and Independent Sleep Practices must be compliant with the updated Standards for Accreditation by Nov. 1, 2019.
Applicants who submit an accreditation application July 1, 2019, or later will complete their application under the revised standards. Applicants currently in the accreditation process who submitted their application prior to July 1, 2019, will complete the remainder of their application under the previous standards; these applicants must still be compliant with the revised standards by Nov. 1, 2019. Those with applications currently open but not submitted should submit their application by July 1 to be reviewed under the current standards.
