As reported by the AASM last week, S.B. 269, which would create licensure for sleep technologists as well as standardize education and training for sleep technology, was passed by New Mexico’s House and was being sent to the Senate for consideration. The Senate passed the bill, and it has now been sent to Governor Bill Richardson’s office for signature.

The Governor has until March 5, 2008, to sign the bill. The AASM and AAST sent an e-mail alert to members in New Mexico requesting they contact the Governor’s office and urge him to sign the bill into law. More information will be communicated to members when the Governor acts on the bill.

If you would like more information on how to contact Governor Richardson, contact Ted Thurn at tthurn@aasm.org.
