Providing quality education to sleep technologists in the scoring of sleep studies can be a challenge for many sleep centers. The AASM has developed several resources to aid centers in this training including online testing modules, reference manuals and slide sets. In addition to these items, a new comprehensive training resource has recently been released by the AASM that allows your facility to offer systematic learning that can be customized to meet your center’s needs.
The Scoring of Sleep: Sleep Education Tool (SET) allows centers to provide course-based learning (including didactic lectures, pre- and post-tests, and companion material) to a group of technologists at your facility. Each SET includes a slide set of over 375 slides that can be used for lecture presentations, a course book for each participant, a copy of the AASM’s Technologist Handbook for Understanding and Implementing the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events for each participant, and more. SETs can be purchased for groups of 5, 10 or 20. Additionally, a board certified sleep specialist is available to travel to your facility to present the SET if needed.
