Study shows sleep apnea is common in men and women with heart disease
The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea is high among both male and female patients with coronary artery disease, according to a study in the December issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. According to the authors, while previous studies have linked OSA to heart problems in men, the current findings highlight the importance of studying the impact of OSA in women with cardiovascular disease.
Study links insomnia to alcohol-related suicide risk
A study in the December issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine is the first to demonstrate that insomnia symptoms mediate the relationship between alcohol use and suicide risk, and that this mediation is moderated by gender. According to the authors, insomnia symptoms may present a treatment target to reduce suicide risk among those who use alcohol.

Journal SLEEP and JCSM remain highly ranked in 2014
Both of the AASM’s journals, SLEEP and JCSM, are again being recognized as the top ranking publications in sleep medicine. In 2014, Thomson Reuters’s Web of Science ranked SLEEP as first among journals with original science on sleep, while Google Scholar ranked SLEEP first in the Circadian Rhythms & Sleep category. The JCSM is ranked third among journals with primary literature on sleep, and is ranked fourth in the Circadian Rhythms & Sleep category by Google Scholar.

The labor and employment lawyer whom we retained stated the Hyatt hotels are not in violation of labor or employment law, and advised that we should not change the plans of the AASM at this time.
