As the field of sleep medicine continues to evolve, so do the skills required to lead a successful practice. Reflecting that growth, the AASM Practice Management Course has been reintroduced as the Business of Sleep Medicine, a name that more fully captures the scope of today’s challenges and opportunities in sleep care.
While the name is new, the course’s foundation remains the same: providing practical, high-quality education that helps sleep medicine professionals strengthen operations, improve efficiency, and deliver excellent patient care. Since its launch in 2018, the course has supported clinicians and practice leaders navigating the business side of sleep medicine. The updated name reflects the growing complexity of today’s practice environment and the need for a more comprehensive approach.
The 2026 course continues that tradition with a focused, practical agenda that addresses both the day-to-day realities of running a sleep medicine practice and the opportunities shaping its future.
The first day focuses on the operational foundation of a successful practice. Sessions will examine topics such as building effective teams, optimizing lab operations, integrating durable medical equipment services, and navigating billing, coding, reimbursement strategies, and legal considerations.
The second day explores growth, innovation, and long-term strategy. Attendees will explore emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, new treatment options, clinical trial programs, vendor partnerships, and alternative billing models, while gaining insight into the future direction of sleep medicine.
Together, the two-day program provides a comprehensive look at the operational, financial, and strategic issues shaping sleep medicine practices today.
The course will take place Sept. 25–26, 2026, in a hybrid format, with options to attend in person at the AASM national office in Darien, Illinois, or via livestream.
