Registration to the first ever AASM Fellow Boot Camp is now open!
The AASM Fellow Boot Camp is a 1-day course (½ -day Saturday & ½-day Sunday) for physicians who matched into sleep medicine fellowships in the upcoming academic year. The course is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2019 and Sunday, June 9, 2019, is San Antonio, TX. The Fellow Boot Camp is for physicians who have matched into a sleep medicine fellowship program for July 2019.
Course Objectives, Agenda, and Topics
Participation in the course will reduce the early training burden on individual fellowship programs by providing incoming fellows with the key clinical and procedural skills needed to begin their fellowship training with confidence. The goal of this course is to prepare fellows with the baseline skills and knowledge needed to excel during their fellowship year. The course will use active learning methods such as hands on sessions and case studies. Some anticipated topics include the following:
- Intro to Sleep Disorders
- Diagnostic Testing: Types and When to Use
- Sleep Scoring 101
- How to Take a Sleep-Specific History
- AASM Resources for Fellows
- CPAP Masks Practicum (hands-on)
- Electrode Placement (hands-on)
- Upper Airway Examination (hands-on)
- Intro to Sleep Technology: PSG/HSAT/PAP (hands-on)
How Do I Apply?
Incoming sleep fellows or their program directors may enter the randomized lottery for selection. Please complete a brief online application below. The application deadline is March 15, 2019 and the results of the lottery will be emailed on or before April 1, 2019. Please note that the Boot Camp course can only accommodate 30 attendees and there is no cost to participate
The 2019 Boot Camp course is only for physicians who have been accepted into a sleep medicine fellowship program beginning July 2019.
