The year 2014 is an important time for Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), the quality incentive program developed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Participation in PQRS is not required, but it is highly encouraged because of the potential impact it can have on Medicare payment. This year is the final opportunity to earn a 0.5 percent incentive on all Medicare Part B services provided this year.
PQRS reporting is also necessary in order to avoid a 2.0 percent penalty on all Part B services provided in 2016. AASM members are encouraged to take advantage of the PQRSwizard registry for easy 2014 PQRS reporting. When using PQRSwizard, members can meet program requirements by reporting quality data on 20 sleep apnea patients.
