Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use and Transparency Policy

 Effective: October 2nd, 2026

Our Commitment

We may use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to support certain aspects of our work, including website content development, email communications, administrative processes, content summarization, drafting, editing, and productivity activities.

AI is used to enhance efficiency and improve the delivery of information and services. However, AI does not replace human expertise, judgment, or accountability. All publicly distributed content remains subject to human oversight and review.

Our use of AI is guided by our commitment to accuracy, transparency, professionalism, scientific integrity, and the trust placed in us by our members, customers, stakeholders, and the public.

How We May Use AI

We may use AI tools to assist with:

  • Drafting website content
  • Creating or editing email communications
  • Summarizing information
  • Improving readability and accessibility of content
  • Generating content outlines or first drafts
  • Supporting marketing and communication activities
  • Internal administrative and productivity functions
  • Assisting staff in preparing customer service and support responses

All AI-assisted content is reviewed and approved by the AASM staff or subject matter experts responsible for that content before publication or distribution in accordance with the AASM approved generative AI use policies.

Privacy, Security, and Confidentiality

We take appropriate measures to protect confidential, personal, proprietary, and sensitive information.

AI capabilities are built into many of the platforms and services the AASM already uses to operate its websites, e-commerce, email, and support functions, and the AASM also uses AI services directly. Information submitted through those services, or that we maintain in them, may be processed by the vendor. Where confidential, personal, protected, or proprietary information is involved, that processing is governed by our agreements with the vendor, which limit use of our data to providing services to the AASM and prohibit its use to train their models.

Our handling of personal information is described further in our Privacy Policy.

Accuracy and Integrity

We strive to ensure that all information presented on our website and in our communications is accurate and reliable.

When AI is used, content is reviewed for:

  • Accuracy
  • Relevance
  • Completeness
  • Professional standards
  • Alignment with organizational values

Any content identified as inaccurate or misleading will be corrected.

Transparency

We believe in transparent and responsible use of AI. Where appropriate, we may disclose that AI was used to assist in the creation, editing, or enhancement of content. Use of AI will never be intentionally misrepresented as solely human-created work when disclosure is warranted.

Reporting Concerns

If you believe that information generated or published by the AASM is inaccurate, misleading, biased, or raises concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence, we encourage you to contact us.

We will review all concerns and take appropriate action when warranted.
