Dear AASM members,

The annual Thanksgiving holiday gives us a welcome opportunity to relax and cherish extra time with family.

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is to curl up on the couch with my family as we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. We also celebrate several November birthdays (including my own) at our big family gathering, so we have the traditional meal of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato pie and pumpkin pie – but we always add birthday cake!

This Thanksgiving, I am also especially thankful for my “extended family” of AASM members. During the first half of my term as AASM president, I have been struck by the recognition of just how many people contribute to our success as an organization. I am grateful for your support, and I thank each of you who is serving on an AASM committee or task force. Your involvement is deeply appreciated.

As president I also have become more aware than ever before of the increasingly complex health care environment that we must navigate daily as sleep medicine professionals. The fast-paced world of sleep medicine demands creative solutions and dedicated professionals to help the growing number of people who have sleep disorders. I am proud of how we are working together as an interdisciplinary team to improve sleep health and promote high quality care for our patients.

I hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.

Sincerely,

Ilene M. Rosen, MD, MS
President
