A new literature review reports that obstructive sleep apnea is a risk factor for recurrence and mortality following stroke or transient ischemic attack. The evidence suggests a dose-response relationship, with more severe OSA increasing the risk of serious adverse outcomes in stroke patients. The review is published in the January issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
