The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is inviting applications for a new R35 funding opportunity that is intended to support a research program, rather than a research project, by providing the primary and most likely sole source of NHLBI funding on individual grant awards.

The Outstanding Investigator Award (RFA-HL-16-024) and the Emerging Investigator Award (RFA-HL-16-025) will promote scientific productivity and innovation by providing long-term support and increased flexibility to experienced Program Directors (PDs)/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs) whose outstanding record of research demonstrate their ability to make major contributions to heart, lung, blood and sleep (HLBS) research.
