NCCAM Clinical Digest Focuses on Sleep and Complementary & Alternative Medicine

The December 2010 issue of the NCCAM Clinical Digest summarizes what is known about some of the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches that people use for insomnia, including herbs, melatonin and related supplements, and other CAM approaches. It notes that research on CAM and insomnia has produced promising results for some CAM therapies. However, evidence of effectiveness is still limited for most therapies, and additional research is needed.

NCCAM Clinical Digest is a monthly e-newsletter from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) at the National Institutes of Health. Each issue summarizes the state of the science on CAM and a health condition, including clinical guidelines, literature searches, research highlights, and information for patients.
