As part of its recent Physician Compensation Report 2017, Medscape asked physicians to estimate their net worth, defined as total assets minus total liabilities. Physicians reporting a net worth of $2 million or more included 28% of pulmonologists and 17% of neurologists.

In a separate report, Medscape ranked the best and worst states in which to practice medicine by considering factors such as the number of lawsuits and malpractice rates. The three best states were Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota, while the three worst states were Louisiana, Arizona and Nevada.
