On behalf of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), I send warm holiday greetings to all our members and fellow sleep professionals across the U.S. and throughout the world.

During the holidays, I enjoy slowing down to spend extra time with family and friends. This year I’m also thinking about my “extended family” in the sleep field.

This family includes my dedicated co-workers who help me provide solutions for our patients who are struggling with sleep problems. It is a joy to collaborate with them to provide hope and relief for people who simply want to sleep well and feel their best.

My sleep family also includes my colleagues who serve on the board of directors, committees and task forces of the AASM. They inspire me with their hard work, creative ideas, and devotion to the sleep field.

Finally, this family includes each of you who is a member of the AASM. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of you at AASM courses and SLEEP annual meetings, and this year I’ve corresponded by email with many others who have had questions about AASM activities and initiatives. I am always encouraged by your passion for the sleep field and commitment to patient care. The AASM is stronger because of you.

I hope you have a restful and joyful holiday season, and I wish you a Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Carden, MD, MBA
