Recently the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the fee schedule for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS). The new fee schedule reflects nationwide adjustments to DMEPOS payment reflective of competitive bidding pricing.
As a result, DMEPOS suppliers previously unaffected by competitive bidding will see a significant cut to payment for certain equipment, including CPAP. Specifically, a 27% cut to CPAP payment is scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2016.
To further explain these changes, CMS released a fact sheet describing the fee schedule adjustments. More information about the competitive bidding program can be found on the CMS website.
