On Oct. 27, 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) posted an infographic and blog post by Administrator Seema Verma to share preliminary participation data from the Quality Payment Program (QPP) in 2019. CMS reports that clinicians overwhelmingly engaged in QPP by submitting their 2019 data despite the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Key findings include the following:

  • More than 97% of MIPS-eligible clinicians engaged with the program by submitting some data for 2019.
  • 84% of MIPS-eligible clinicians will receive an additional adjustment for exceptional performance.
  • 0% will receive a negative payment adjustment.

Contact the QPP at 1-866-288-8292 or QPP@cms.hhs.gov for more information. To receive assistance more quickly, consider calling during non-peak hours; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern time. Hearing-impaired customers can dial 711 to connect with a TRS Communications Assistant.
