A special article in the March issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine describes the 12-year history of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s mini-fellowship for international scholars, an annual training program that supports the establishment of sleep medicine in developing countries. From 2002 to 2013, the program provided training for 83 international fellows from 31 nations. The article presents an overview of the program, summarizes its outcomes and successes, and describes several programmatic changes for the near future.
