In communication with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) last year, the AASM urged the ABIM to revise its Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program requirements to allow individuals to use continuing medical education (CME) for MOC points. In response to the concerns expressed by the AASM and other stakeholders, the ABIM recently announced that it is implementing a more flexible, streamlined process to combine CME activities with MOC requirements. Currently the AASM is reviewing the ABIM program requirements to assess which CME activities provided by the AASM will be accepted for MOC points.

ABIM Diplomates can assist the AASM during this transition period by providing your ABIM ID, which is required for MOC reporting. Simply log in to your AASM account and look for the pop-up window requesting your certification information. More details about these MOC changes will be provided in the weeks ahead.
