AASM Opens Registration for Several 2011 Educational Courses

Registration is now open for the following AASM Sleep Education Series courses to be held in 2011:

  • Board Review for the Sleep Specialist
The 2011 American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) sleep medicine certification exam will be the final opportunity for physicians to apply under the practice pathway; after this exam, all first-time applicants must complete a formal sleep medicine fellowship program to apply. Applicants for the 2011 exam who wish to receive a comprehensive review of topics from the exam blueprint can now register for the AASM’s Board Review for the Sleep Specialist course and companion courses, to be offered three times in 2011: Los Angeles, Calif., in March; Denver, Colo., in August; and Reston, Va., in September.
  • Current Topics in Sleep Medicine
Experienced sleep specialists can attend the Current Topics in Sleep Medicine course from Feb. 18–19, 2011, in La Jolla, Calif., to receive a review of state-of-the-art sleep medicine and sleep research of relevance to clinicians in the field. The 2011 course will present topics in several areas of sleep medicine including circadian rhythms, obstructive sleep apnea, hypersomnias and fatigue, parasomnias and more.
  • The Business of Sleep Medicine
Individuals interested in obtaining up-to-date information on business considerations of sleep medicine practice can attend The Business of Sleep Medicine course from Feb. 20–21, 2011, in La Jolla, Calif. During this course, a faculty of experts will provide attendees with valuable updates on topics including portable monitoring, reimbursement, contracts, referrals, quality control, accreditation and much more.
