To assist accredited sleep programs in budgeting for 2025, the AASM is announcing adjustments to its accreditation fee structure to align with the new service-based accreditation model, which will take effect in January. This model will group service locations that share staff and policies into a network, helping to simplify the accreditation process.
Accreditation fees will now be based on the services provided by your network: patient evaluation and management at a sleep clinic, in-lab sleep studies, home sleep apnea tests (HSATs), and provision of durable medical equipment (DME). These fees will be the same whether you are applying for a new accreditation or reaccrediting your network, regardless of your network membership status. This means that every network will pay the same price for the same services through a streamlined fee structure.
For example, a network that provides patient evaluation and management in one sleep clinic, diagnostic testing in one sleep lab, and HSATs (i.e., the current Sleep Facility model) will pay a fee of $5,000 when applying or renewing. A network that has one sleep clinic, provides HSATs, but offers no in-lab diagnostic testing (i.e., the current Independent Sleep Practice model) will pay a fee of $4,500.
The service-based accreditation model and pricing structure are modular, making it easy for you to add or remove services within your network. For example, you could add a second sleep clinic for a fee of $500 or become an accredited DME supplier for a fee of $1,500. You can review the full fee structure on the AASM website.
The best news is that the AASM will maintain a 5-year accreditation term for all accredited services. AASM accreditation remains the best value when compared with the 3-year term offered by other accrediting organizations.
