AASM membership dues help support the advancement of sleep medicine research through the creation and revision of Clinical Practice Guidelines. These evidence-based tools provide physicians with recommendations for the evaluation and management of patients with sleep disorders and often help inform insurance providers when formulating reimbursement guidelines. In 2012, three new clinical practice guidelines were published in the journal SLEEP. Upon direction from the Board of Directors, task forces are currently developing clinical guidelines about oral appliances for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, the treatment of circadian rhythm sleep disorders, diagnostic testing for adult obstructive sleep apnea and the pharmacological treatment of insomnia. Your membership dues will ensure that these important documents continue to be created and updated. Renew today
