The AASM invites all members to the AASM Political Action Committee (AASM PAC) Breakfast at SLEEP 2013

This informative and educational meeting is a great opportunity to learn about how the AASM PAC is an essential part of our advocacy efforts. As our members know, health care is at a critical juncture as medicine is shifting towards outcomes based medicine and 32 million people will enter the system because of the Affordable Care Act.

In light of these changes, it is imperative our voice is heard in Congress. The AASM PAC is an important part of our advocacy efforts because it supports sleep medicine-friendly federal legislators.

The event has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 4 from 7:00 – 8:00am at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel.

Representative Andy Harris, MD (R), Congressman from Maryland’s 1st District, will speak at the event. He is an active member of the Congressional Science, Space and Technology Committee, as well as the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Rep. Harris can provide a unique and valuable insight into the Affordable Care Act and how it will affect the health care profession. As a physician (anesthesiologist), he In addition, the Representative will provide valuable information on the importance of contributing to a political action committee.

The cost of attending the event is $50. Your donation will support the AASM PAC, a bi-partisan political action committee which assists in supporting sleep medicine-friendly legislators and raise awareness of sleep medicine and sleep disorders at the federal level. Contributions can be made only by U.S. residents who are members of the AASM. The AASM PAC will accept donations made with a credit card or personal check, not from an institution or corporate account. Members attending will also be provided a hot breakfast buffet.
