In today’s episode of Talking Sleep, we’re talking with Drs. Donna Arand and David Davila about recent updates to the guidance for conducting the Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) and Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT). Both served on the task force that updated the protocols. They explain updates such as prior patient sleep time recommendations, sleep diary requirements, and other procedures designed to improve consistencies and standardize reporting from lab to lab.

Donna Arand, PhD, DABSM, FAASM, FSBM, is an experimental psychologist in the department of neurology at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. She has served on the boards of the AASM, the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.

David Davila, MD, is director of sleep center at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock. He has served on the boards of directors for the National Sleep Foundation and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
