COVID-19 Relief Fund for sleep societies
The AASM is offering a third round of relief funding to state and regional sleep societies impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic. Societies that have not yet received funding can apply by Jan. 3 to receive up to $10,000.

Funding for sleep medicine fellowships

Sleep medicine fellowship programs that are at risk of losing funding, previously lost funding, have never been funded, or have a new position can apply by Jan. 4, 2021, for the Sleep Medicine Fellow Funding Award from the AASM Foundation.

APSS: Coming soon! Nominations for the inaugural APSS DEI Leadership Award
The APSS is proud to announce its new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award, which will recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of sleep medicine and/or sleep and circadian science by increasing diversity in the field, developing targeted educational programs, or working to reduce sleep health disparities. HHS: Proposes modifications to the HIPAA Privacy Rule

On Dec. 10, the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced proposed changes to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule to support individuals’ engagement in their care, remove barriers to coordinated care, and reduce regulatory burdens on the health care industry.

The AASM national office will be closed Friday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas Day holiday. Normal office hours will resume at 9 a.m. EST on Monday, Dec. 28.
