An evidence-based review in the March issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine summarizes the background information that was foundational for the recent development of rules, terminology, and technical specifications for scoring sleep/wake states in full-term infants from birth to 2 months of age. The AASM published these rules in the AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events, Version 2.2.
