The Case-Based Webinars employ the problem-based learning method. The presenters begin with a description of a patient, including history and relevant physical findings. The audience is polled to determine a differential diagnosis. Appropriate diagnostic tests are reviewed, and the results of the patient’s tests are discussed. This leads to a discussion of the pathophysiology of the disorder. Recommendations for treatment are reviewed and the outcome of the case is revealed. The process provides a window into the thinking of an experienced clinician and has been shown to be an effective learning method.
