Earlier this week National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins unveiled the NIH FY 2016 Budget Roll-Out, which requests a program level budget of $31.3 billion. The budget projects that the proposed increase of $1 billion in FY 2016 would fund 1,200 more new and competing Research Project Grants. The proposed budget includes targeted increases for a new Precision Medicine Initiative, further development of the BRAIN initiative, and increased investment in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research.
