A new report prepared for the Association of American Medical Colleges suggests that the demand for physician services continues to grow faster than supply. Although physician supply is projected to increase modestly in the years ahead, demand for non-primary care physicians will exceed supply by 28,200 to 63,700 physicians by 2025. Potential solutions recommended in a statement from the AAMC include continued innovations in care delivery and increased federal support for graduate medical education.
