Performance feedback and Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) scores are now available from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for all individual clinicians and groups that submitted data through the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website for 2017.

Advanced Alternative Payment Model (APM) entities and accountable care organizations (ACOs) also can access performance feedback via the QPP website. Clinicians who participated in an ACO will have to request feedback from a representative within their APM entity, but participant Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) in the Shared Savings Program can sign in and access feedback directly.

You can access your scores when you visit the QPP website and sign in to your Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) account. If you have not yet set up an EIDM account, create an account or call 1-866-288-8292. (For TTY: 1-877-715-6222.)  The MIPS Performance Feedback Fact Sheet is also available to assist participants in understanding feedback.

CMS also has released a new resource to assist MIPS participants with understanding final scores and payment adjustments for 2019, which are based on 2017 participation in the program.  The MIPS 2019 Payment Adjustment Fact Sheet is now live on the CMS website.  Participants also can visit the Quality Payment Program Resource Library on the CMS website for QPP resources.

2017 MIPS participants also can request that CMS review the calculation of the 2019 payment adjustment factor in the instance of an error.  Specific examples of when a targeted review is appropriate include:

  • Errors or data quality issues on the measures/activities submitted
  • Eligibility issues
  • Exclusion from the APM participation list and not being scored under APM scoring standard
  • Not being automatically reweighted, despite qualification due to the 2017 extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy

The Targeted Review of the 2019 MIPS Payment Adjustment Fact Sheet is available to assist participants in understanding what a targeted review entails and how to request a targeted review. The Targeted Review of the 2019 MIPS Payment Adjustment User Guide is available to provide a more detailed overview of the targeted review process, describing how to access and complete the targeted review request form.
