Help the AASM represent the sleep specialty within the AMA

Dear AASM members,

We urgently need your help to ensure sleep medicine has a voice and representation in the American Medical Association’s (AMA) House of Delegates. The AASM needs to be able to represent our specialty at two influential bodies which impact how all clinicians practice and get reimbursed:

• The AMA/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee (RUC), which impacts CMS and private payor reimbursements.
• The Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Advisory Committee, which provides guidance to the CPT Editorial Panel, which determines new codes for claims.

Representation is apportioned to medical specialty societies based on the portion of its physician members that also maintain AMA membership. We need you to join or renew (half-year dues are available to those who qualify) to ensure sleep medicine is not left out of the decision-making process as important policy decisions are made which affect daily medical practices.

With your support, the AASM will continue to represent the sleep field within the AMA.
