According to a study released by HealthPocket, a technology company that compares and ranks health plans, just 12% of individuals think the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate should take effect as scheduled in 2014. The study also found:

  • 41% of respondents do not believe consumers should be penalized for not purchasing health insurance; and
  • 47% are unsure if the individual mandate should take effect as scheduled.

HealthPocket officials noted that respondents who thought the individual mandate should be delayed outnumbered those who thought the provision should take effect as scheduled by a three-to-one margin.
