Throughout the month of April 2011, members had the opportunity to experience the new AASM Online Learning Center by viewing a different educational presentation for free each week. The final online learning module included in this offer “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy of Fatigue/Sleepiness: Measures That a Practicing Sleep Physician Can Use” was posted Monday, April 25.

In the presentation, Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of the Gold Bear Sleep and Mood Research Clinic Dr. Allison Harvey, PhD, discusses the use of cognitive behavioral therapy to improve alertness and daytime function in patients with hypersomnia. Dr. Harvey gives practical suggestions, such as which questions to implement in the interview process and how to use CBT techniques to rapidly improve patient function.

“Cognitive Behavioral Therapy of Fatigue/Sleepiness: Measures That a Practicing Sleep Physician Can Use” will be free on the AASM Online Learning Center homepage through Sunday, May 1. Following the free preview, members can purchase modules for 3-day, 30-day, or 1-year access and claim CME credit (free preview will not include CME credit). The AASM has recently expanded it library of learning modules to include presentations from the recent Sleep Center Manager Boot Camp.
