Colorado Medical and Dental Boards to develop joint sleep apnea policy

On Thursday, May 18, the Colorado Medical Board conducted a meeting to discuss the dentist’s role in the management of sleep apnea. The Colorado Dental Board has been studying this issue and recently recommended to the Medical Board that the two boards develop a joint policy to help educate licensees and consumers before considering rules for enforcement purposes.

During the meeting, the Medical Board stated that a committee, which will be equally represented by Dental Board members and Medical Board members, will be created to develop a joint policy. Selection of committee members and scheduling of meeting dates will be completed soon.

AASM will keep our Colorado members apprised of committee meetings along with any materials that should be submitted to the committee.
