UPDATE – April 24, 2020: Today the APSS suspended registration for SLEEP 2020 while continuing contract negotiations with the city of Philadelphia on a plan to host the SLEEP meeting there in a future year. Assuming these negotiations are successful, SLEEP 2020 will be postponed until later this summer or early fall, when it will be held as an online, virtual event due to health and safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, the APSS will be giving registered attendees the option to receive a full refund with no cancellation fee or apply these funds toward registration for the anticipated virtual SLEEP meeting. Read the full APSS statement.

UPDATE – April 9,  2020: An update from the APSS indicates that it is becoming more doubtful that SLEEP 2020 will take place in Philadelphia this June as a face-to-face meeting, but contingency plans are underway to explore options for a virtual SLEEP 2020. The APSS expects to make a decision and provide more details soon. In the meantime, the APSS will make accommodations for speakers and presenters who are unable to meet current deadlines due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

UPDATE – March 17, 2020:  The APSS has posted an updated statement online, indicating that a final decision about the status of SLEEP 2020 will be made on or before May 13, which is one month before the meeting is scheduled to begin. This decision will be based on the best available evidence and guidance from both national and local public health officials.

March 7, 2020:  The APSS has posted the following statement about COVID-19 and the SLEEP 2020 annual meeting.

The Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) is closely monitoring the status of the coronavirus (COVID-19) to assess how it may impact SLEEP 2020. Our top concern is to protect the health, well-being and safety of our attendees, presenters, exhibitors and staff.

We are moving forward with all plans to welcomyou to SLEEP 2020, the 34th annual meeting of the APSS, in Philadelphia, June 13-17. The APSS will be working with the Pennsylvania Convention Center to implement enhanced safety procedures during the meeting. Our Program Committee has planned an outstanding event, and registration by attendees and exhibitors continues to be strong. We anticipate that SLEEP 2020 will be the year’s premier clinical and scientific meeting in the fields of sleep medicine and sleep and circadian research.

Similarly, our host city, Philadelphia, is prepared to show you why it is one of America’s top destinations. We are excited to share this meeting with you, and we hope you will “See Yourself at SLEEP!”

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will post updates as they become available. Please contact us at info@sleepmeeting.org or (630) 737-9700 if you have any questions about SLEEP 2020.
