On October 1–2, 2011, the AASM will host a course at the AASM national office in Darien, Illinois (a Chicago suburb) entitled Pharmacology and Sleep Medicine. The course was developed to provide sleep clinicians and researchers with the opportunity to receive an intensive review of current and upcoming drug treatments for the full spectrum of sleep disorders including insomnia, disorders of excessive sleepiness, parasomnias, sleep related breathing disorders and circadian rhythm disorders. Pharmacology has been designated as a medical content category for the 2011 American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) sleep medicine certification exam; individuals preparing to take this exam can register for this course to receive a review of topics which may be covered on this exam. The course will be chaired by Thomas Roth, PhD and will feature several prominent faculty from both the academic and clinical fields of sleep.

The advanced registration deadline for the Pharmacology and Sleep Medicine course is Friday, September 2, 2011; register before this date to save on registration fees. For more information about this course, including a full preliminary schedule, faculty or to register, visit the Sleep Education Series portion of the AASM website.
