The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has revised the Standards for Accreditation to allow for the “proration based upon date of hire” of continuing education for medical staff members who are advanced practice providers (NP, PA, APRN). This clarification to Standard B-6 is consistent with the continuing education proration that is already acceptable in Standard B-9 for sleep technicians and sleep technologists.
These revised standards, for Facility and Independent Sleep Practice Accreditation, are accessible on the Accreditation Reference Materials webpage. AASM accreditation applicants who are currently in application will adhere to the Standards for Accreditation updated August 2020.
