Each year the AASM membership elects new leaders who help guide the organization as members of the Board of Directors. The AASM requires strong, thoughtful leaders who will set the organizational direction and prioritize strategic initiatives to address the most pressing needs of members and help shape the future of the field of sleep medicine.
The composition of the Board of Directors includes eight Directors who are elected by the membership. In 2014 the AASM will have two openings for service as a Director. One position will be a three-year appointment, and one will be a two-year appointment to compete an unexpired term. Both terms for the newly elected Directors will begin in June at SLEEP 2014. Service as a Director requires an extensive time commitment, including attendance at five face-to-face meetings during the year and participation on conference calls as necessary.
The AASM Board of Directors is held to the highest conflict of interest standard. Therefore, members should review the conflict of interest policy in advance to ensure compliance.
Members who are interested in being considered as a candidate for the position of Director are required to complete and submit:
- The Board of Directors Conflict of Interest Disclosure form
- A maximum two-page biosketch that details professional experience
- A maximum two-page letter of intent
Please submit the required materials by Nov. 6, 2013. Materials can be sent via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, fax to (630) 737-9790 or postal mail to:
