AASM congratulates members elected to leadership positions: 2025 election results

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates the members who were elected to positions of leadership during the 2025 election, including Fariha Abbasi-Feinberg, MD, FAASM, who was elected as the 2025 – 2026 president-elect, and Vishesh K. Kapur, MD, MPH, FAASM, who was elected as secretary/treasurer.

Joyce Lee-Iannotti, MD, FAASM, was elected to serve as a director, and Emerson Wickwire, PhD, FAASM, was elected for reappointment for another term as a director. Karin Johnson, MD, FAASM, was elected as an at-large member of the Leadership Development Committee.

These leaders were nominated by the Leadership Development Committee, and they were elected by voting members. Their terms will commence Monday, June 9, during the AASM annual membership meeting, when the current president-elect, Anita V. Shelgikar, MD, MHPE, FAASM, will become the 2025 – 2026 AASM president.

Emerson Wickwire, PhD, FAASM, professor of psychiatry and medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he serves as section chief, sleep medicine, and oversees all sleep clinical, educational, and research efforts
