The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates past president Dr. Patrick J. Strollo, Jr., who was recently appointed as the Vice Chair for Veterans Affairs in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Medicine, in association with his new position as Chief of Medicine and VP of the Medicine Service Line at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. In these roles he will enhance the academic, clinical, and teaching missions of both institutions while coordinating recruitment, training, research, and professional development of the residents, fellows, and faculty in the Department of Medicine that have commitments to the VA.
Dr. Strollo was AASM president in 2010-2011 and was the recipient of the 2015 AASM Excellence in Education Award. Currently he is the AASM physician representative to the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI) and the AASM Alternate Delegate to the AMA House of Delegates.
