The 2011 American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) sleep medicine certification exam will be the final opportunity for physicians to apply under the Practice Pathway; after this exam, all first-time applicants must have completed a formal sleep medicine fellowship program. The exam will be offered by these five member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS):
- American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)
- American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOto)
- American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)
- American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
