Report one measure for one patient and avoid a 4% MIPS penalty

The 2017 performance period for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), one of two tracks offered within the Quality Payment Program, is coming to an end. MIPS participants needed to have started reporting activities by Oct. 2, 2017, to be eligible for a positive payment adjustment.

However, there is still time to report just one measure for one patient to avoid a 4% penalty in 2019. The AASM MACRA page outlines seven simple steps for reporting one sleep-specific quality measure for one patient. The claim associated with the measure must be completed by Dec. 31, 2017. Clinicians have until Feb. 28, 2018, to submit the claim to their respective Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC).
