President’s Report

Anita V. Shelgikar, MD, MHPE, is the 2025 — 2026 president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Her term as AASM president began June 9, 2025. Dr. Shelgikar is a professor of neurology at the University of Michigan Medical School, where she serves as program director for the institution’s sleep medicine fellowship. She completed her medical degree at Wayne State University, her neurology residency at Emory University, her sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Utah, and her master’s in health professions education at the University of Michigan.
