On Dec. 10, the AASM urged members to contact your lawmakers to pass the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act, a bill guaranteeing health care for 9/11 first responders. The Zadroga Act, attached to Congress’ new $1.1 trillion dollar spending bill, passed in bipartisan fashion and was promptly signed by President Obama last Friday.
Now the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program will continue to provide pathways to care to treat a multitude of devastating 9/11 related diseases, including sleep apnea. The 63,000 9/11 first responders and 8,942 affected civilians who are covered by the WTC Health Program can rest assured that they are able to seek treatment from a board-certified sleep physician.
By raising your voice and standing with first responders, you reminded your legislators to uphold their promises to never forget the brave men and women who rose to the occasion when their country needed them most.
Thank you for supporting American heroes by protecting their health care and voicing support for the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act.
